15 E A S Y THINGS YOU CAN DO TO LIVE MORE SUSTAINABLY

SUS . TAIN . A . BLY // Adverb - In a way that can be maintained at a certain rate or level. In a way that avoids the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.

Everyday we make different choices and decisions that not only affects our direct lives but affects the world around us as well. From what we choose to eat, to what kind of car we drive, it affects our planet, our climate, & so many different species whether it’s animals, plants, insects, the smallest bit of algae floating in the ocean...everything we do has an impact on something bigger than ourselves.

We’ve compiled a list of the easiest things that you can do to make a difference while on this planet. Whether the change is big or small, it helps!

Turn off your lights - When you leave the room even if it’s just for a few minutes, flip the switch! The small change will help a lot with your energy consumption (& your electricity bill.)

Add a towel to your dryer load (by adding a clean, dry bath towel to your wet clothes, it helps them dry quicker), or air dry your clothes! (this also helps preserve your clothes!)

Consolidate your power - Use power strips for multiple devices so you’re able to turn it on and off with just one switch.

Reduce your water consumption - Take shorter showers & turn off your water when brushing your teeth, washing your hands, or cleaning. Save water for wildlife, the water systems that provide this water is home to countless species that are majorly affected by our excessive
water use.

Repurpose your jars and other containers for food storage instead of throwing them in the trash or recycling bin.

Ditch the disposable water bottles - go buy a reusable water bottle instead! some of our favorites are Klean Kanteen, Hydroflask, S’well.

Go paperless! Concert tickets, bills, bank statements ect can all be tracked online and helps out a lot with unnecessary paper waste.

Cook at home - (this is a big one for us, I LOVE eating out) but cooking at home reduces single use packaging from being used & cooking at home can be way more fun anyway. Just switch it up!

Go strawless - Or try an alternative such as metal, bamboo or glass.

Thrift shop! Shopping at second hand stores 1) helps you find hidden gems that no one else will probably have and 2) eliminates buying new and creating excessive waste.

If thrift shopping isn’t really your thing - make all your purchases count! When buying clothing make sure you know where it’s coming from, how it is produced and that it will be something that will last.

Switch to environmentally friendly products - Chemical free cleaning products, shampoo bars, & naturally made local soaps are way better for you and way better for the environment.

Buy local, organic, or fair trade when you can! This helps support small scale farmers and your local community.

Walk or bike instead of driving to places that are feasible to reduce air pollution, save on gas and improve your health!

Tell your friends and maybe they will join along too!

Now more than ever it’s important to protect this place we call home. Do your best and the earth will thank you for it!
